In 2011, I decided to do a personified take on the classic pretty-pictures-of-San-Francisco-landmarks calendar. This meant twelve drawings of famous vistas, with my personified landmark characters in place of the actual structure. The actual calendar pages also included important dates in San Francisco history. A successful Kickstarter campaign meant I was able to get nice printed copies, which were sold through this page, and in several stores around San Francisco, in late 2011.
In retrospect, I should’ve tried to print something that would last more than a year. I may try to do something a little more long-lasting in hard copy with these characters in the future. But this was still a fun project, and now that I’m not trying to actually sell any copies anymore, I can actually put all of the artwork online.
These were all drawn between August and October of 2011. They’re colored predominantly in marker, though I filled in the sky in Photoshop in many of them.
